Here are some of my favorite ways that I used AI this week:

(Using ChatGPT, Claude, and @motionapp_’s Runneth)

1. Using ChatGPT’s new Work & Codex experience, finally (mostly) automated creative reporting deck making. 3 hours down to 20 minutes. THANK GOD.

Video on this soon ^

2. Tons of Claude automations: a client watchdog report that pings me 2x per day to make sure no client Slacks are missed, a morning briefing that pre-writes email drafts + Slack messages that I have outstanding, a content idea generator from my Granola, and SO MUCH MORE.

3. And of course: Runneth. Listen: I’m incredibly biased but I am also incredibly impressed.

Some examples:

- Had it create an in-depth research analysis on IM8’s ad library. They currently have 3000 ads in rotation, so I wanted to understand their creative velocity, creator strategy, how they’re pressure testing with statics, etc. I gave Runneth 3 days to complete the report, made it double check it’s work twice and…. wow

- Asked a few high-impact but one-off questions: think YES or NO answers. Has this brand ever run ads in Spanish before? Have they ever tested statics targeting this persona? Have they ever tried this kind of creator? Is there a mismatch between the age breakdown vs the people in the ads? I love doing this when onboarding new brands and I need a quick gut check on the strategy and suggestions I’m presenting.

- Do a persona analysis on these (give a list of 10-20) organic creatives. Who are they targeting? I know it might be BIG PERSONA GROUP, but what are the sub groups? ^ I liked doing this one because it told us more about the new people we needed to speak to vs our own website reviews or past creatives that had been tested.

- Run a comparison report for how our ads are doing vs the other agencies. Turn this into a dashboard.

- Explain why the performance dipped on THIS CREATIVE. Did it fatigue? Was there a bad comment that brought down performance? Did a metric like CTR or CPM worsen? We don’t go by ROAS, we go by CPA and spend as the main metric of truth in this account, so please do not focus on ROAS.

Tell me: what was something cool that you built this week??
This is the next gen of growth marketing.

I took this video at a private briefing at @try.profound’s office in NYC.

It was the first time I could actually SEE what AI is doing in the background… and why it is the next big platform for marketers to master.

Tell me:

Have you started building your org for AI Search yet?

Are you Team AI or Team Human?

Soon, all marketers will have to make this choice.

Let’s get the glaring caveat out of the way. I think a majority of people here will say, “Obviously, I’m Team Human, but I use AI to support my work.”

That’s not what this means.

In the very near future, marketing is going to be split between two very different goals:

1. Create content for humans

2. Create content for agents who are searching on behalf of their humans

A few weeks ago, at Zero Click by @try.profound in New York, I learned more about this future.

And the talk that resonated with me the most was from Gamma’s CMO about how they completely restructured their marketing team to support both of these goals.

In the entire time that I listened to her, I kept wondering: where does the creative strategist fit in all of this?

I suspect that the creative strategist role is going to diverge into two unique tracks:

Track A is that the more technical and full funnel savvy creative strategists are going to essentially become Marketing Engineers.

They are going to be able to build and ship fully automated marketing systems and funnels on behalf of their automated customer research, and turn out creative almost instantaneously.

Track B will be the more creator-focused strategist.

This is where we’ll also see the collapse of many social and partnership roles into an all-in-one creative strategist that can pick out the right creators and collaborate with them on content that’s going to have an impact, not just via organic but also on paid.

And of course, this role will also be impacted by automations.

I want to give a huge thanks to the Profound team for inviting me to Zero Click this year. I’ve attended so many marketing events in the last few months, and this one really hit home for me on what the future of our industry is going to look like.

“How do you do it all?”

I get asked this a lot. The biggest thing for me is this:

I know what my true weaknesses are. And one is kind of funny/embarrassing…

Admin work.

I am a creative strategist at heart. I live for the big ideas, the briefs, the performance data.

But following up with creators? Tracking 800+ assets a month? Making sure deadlines don’t fall through the cracks?

Our team doesn’t have time for all of that.

That’s where we used to lose hours every week.

That’s why my team and I love @superhuman__hq

It makes sure our briefs actually communicate clearly to creators, video editors, and clients. It tracks our entire creator program. And it automatically handles follow-ups so nothing slips.

Our team 2x’d our creator program in a single month. Same headcount.

So when people ask how I do it all… honestly, I don’t.

I just got really honest about where I needed help.

And then I found a tool that filled the gap.
